25 Scholarships For Agricultural Business and Technology

Many who wish to pursue a degree in Agriculture struggle to afford the financial burden that it brings. Therefore, numerous organizations and programs have provided scholarships for Agricultural Business and Technology or others like: agricultural marketing, animal production, or international agriculture. The list provided below will help those individuals that wish to pursue a degree in the majors listed above or similar fields and help lighten the financial load.

1. A.W. Bodine-Sunkist Memorial Scholarship

Deadline: April 30th

Available for undergraduate students who are enrolled full-time at an accredited postsecondary institution. To qualify for the scholarship, students must have financial need and have California or Arizona agricultural backgrounds, and must have derived most of their income from agriculture. An essay must be submitted with the scholarship application and if applicant is awarded he or she can receive up to $2,000 depending on qualification conditions. The scholarship is renewable based on annual review for up to four years of full-time undergraduate study.

2. Accelerated Genetics’ Collegiate Scholarships

Deadline: Varies

Supported by Accelerated Genetics, the Collegiate Scholarship Program is for individuals who are currently in their freshman, sophomore, or junior year and are majoring in any agricultural field. $1,000 scholarship are awarded to students enrolled in a short course vocational technical college or a four-year university degree program. To qualify, applicants or their parents must be currently active customers of Accelerated Genetics.

3. AGR Excellence Scholarship

Deadline: March 31st

Alpha Gamma Rho provides up to four $1,000 scholarships to individuals who excel in scholarship, leadership, citizenship, activities, and fraternal involvement. All undergraduates are eligible to apply. To qualify, students must have had a GPA of 2.5 or higher in high school, and must enter the College of Agricultural Sciences, Applied Sciences and Arts, Business, Engineering, and Science. This scholarship is available annually, but is non-renewable.

4. Agricultural Opportunity Hispanic Scholarship Program

Deadline: June 13th

Available to students attending Texas State Technical College-Harlingen who are majoring in Agricultural Technology/Production. Students must have applied and completed FAFSA to be considered for the scholarship programs to be eligible. To qualify, applicants must be a full-time Hispanic student who is a resident in the state of Texas, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The scholarship is available for freshmen-senior students and the award varies from $500 to $800.

5. AIB FFA/4-H Scholarship Program

Deadline: Varies

Scholarship available to any graduating senior students at the AIB College of Business who are in the top 30% of the class. To qualify, applicant must currently have a membership at Future Farmers of America (FFA) in Iowa, involved in livestock or agribusiness projects, must have 2.5 to 2.99 cumulative high school GPA or cumulative GPA based on Associate degree, and must be a full-time student. $750 maximum is given per term and up to $3,000 a year for award recipients. The scholarship is also renewable, but must meet the 2.5 cumulative GPA.

6. Alpha Gamma Rho Dairy Scholarship

Available to students at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, this $500 scholarship is presented annually to one Alpha Gamma Rho undergraduate who achieves high levels of excellence. To qualify, the students must be pursuing a major in dairy science, dairy husbandry, or animal science with a dairy option or emphasis.

7. Alpha Gamma Rho Horticulture Scholarship

Deadline: March 31st

Two $500 scholarships available to current Alpha Gamma Rho undergraduates. To qualify students must be enrolled with a declared horticulture-related major in entomology, environmental horticulture, horticulture, landscape gardening, landscape horticulture, ornamental horticulture, pest control, plant breeding, plant pathology, plant science with horticulture emphasis, pomology, or vegetable crops. Students must also have completed at least three courses in the department of their declared major, supply a current transcript, and send an essay.

9. Andy Bates Scholarship

Available to students who display potential for making a positive contribution to the agricultural engineering and/or turf grass industry, possess a high interest in golf course equipment design, manufacturing, and use. The scholarship award ranges from $500 to $1,000 depending on the applicant’s financial need. To qualify, must be a continuing full-time student at SUNY Cobleskill, majoring in Agricultural Engineering or Turf Grass Management, completed 30 or more college credits, and have a 2.5 or higher cumulative average.

10. Arlie and Ethel Wilson Entomological Endowed Scholarship

Deadline: April 1st

Awarded to full-time graduate (entomology) or undergraduate (agricultural pest management) students at Mississippi State University. Available to freshman to senior college students at MSU. To qualify, students must be full-time undergraduate or graduate, have demonstrated a high degree of academic achievement with a B average or better, be of good moral character, and have demonstrated leadership ability and financial need. Students must also submit letters of recommendation to the admissions office. Applicants who are awarded will receive $700 to put towards tuition costs.

11. Bradford-Sullivan Forest Landowners’ Association Scholarship

Bradford-Sullivan Forest Landowners’ Association has organized a scholarship program to be available to students who are entering into or are in a forestry, agricultural, natural resource management, environmental education or related field of study. To be eligible for this award, applicants must be a Bradford or Sullivan county resident, majoring in or planning to major in forestry, environmental resource management, agriculture, agronomy, parks, environmental education, or other related fields of study, and a high school senior or college undergraduate enrolled in a two- or four-year program. Recipients of the award are granted $500 to put towards tuition costs.

12. California Farm Bureau Scholarship

The California Farm Bureau Scholarship Foundation was organized to give aid to students with a desire to pursue a career in the agricultural industry. The scholarships are awarded annually based upon academic achievement, career goals, extracurricular activities, determination, leadership skills, and a commitment to study agriculture. To be eligible, students must be entering or attending a four-year accredited college or university in California and pursuing a career in the agricultural industry, students must be a resident of the State of California. Students entering or attending a junior college are not eligible. Students who are award will receive between $2,000 up to $5,000. This scholarship is also renewable under certain criteria.

13. Carl Johnson Memorial Agricultural Scholarship

This scholarship is given to a students who are majoring in Agriculture Production or Swine Management and are available only to freshman or sophomore. To be eligible, students must demonstrate financial need, show leadership qualities, and must have FAFSA completed before April 1. The award is $550 and is renewable for only freshman or transfer students going on to their sophomore year at Joliet Junior College.

14. CHS Foundation Two-Year Scholarship

First year agricultural students at two-year colleges are invited to apply for one of 25 $1,000 scholarships from the CHS Foundation. Applicants must meet the following criteria: student must be in his/her first year at a two-year college studying an agricultural-related major and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. The scholarship is intended for use during the second year of study and a recipient can only receive the scholarship once.

15. Dairy Fashion Scholarship

Available only to students that are transferring or attending the State University of New York Cobleskill who are involved with the dairy industry or majoring in Dairy Production & Management. 16. DMI National Dairy Shrine Milk Marketing Scholarship

DMI National Dairy Shrine Milk Marketing Scholarships are based on ability, interests, and need. These awards are provided to encourage undergraduate sophomores and junior students to pursue careers in marketing of milk or dairy products. 17. Dr. Edwin E. Lamberth Agricultural Education Scholarship

18. Floyd and Eleanor Rose Scholarship

Deadline: Within 30 days after acceptance to the Alfred State College

Awarded to academically talented students from Western New York State and Northern Pennsylvania enrolling in either the agricultural technology or building trades: building constructions programs. The scholarship is available for students who wish to study at Alfred State College. No application is necessary for the award, it is available to students who have been accepted for the fall semester into a regular program or full-time study. To qualify, students must have an 85 or better high school average through their junior year and have paid the acceptance deposit by the due date given when the student is accepted to the college.

25. UIUC Jonathan Baldwin Turner Agricultural Merit Scholarship

Deadline: Varies

Students who ranked in the upper 10 percent of his/her high school class at the end of the junior year, or have a composite ACT (or equivalent SAT) score of at least 29 are eligible to participate in a JBT Scholarship interview. Interviews are held in two time periods (September through November; and February through March) each year. This scholarship is for students attending the University Of Illinois College Of ACES. $4,000 to $10,000 is given to winning recipients and will be distributed throughout the years they attend the college. The scholarship is renewable as long as the student maintains a 3.4 cumulative GPA.
